Aged Care Visitor (Waratah)

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for a friendly and caring volunteer to spend time with an older lady living in its Waratah Aged Care Home. Visits last about an hour, once a week or fortnight, and bring companionship, stories and laughter to the resident.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the resident regularly to share a cup of tea and a chat, reminisce over family photo albums, listen to stories, swap jokes or take a gentle walk in the gardens.
• Paint the resident's nails and simply enjoy good company.
• Help reduce isolation and improve quality of life through regular visits.

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older.
• An NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Visits ideally between 9:30am and 12:00pm or 1:00pm and 4:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays (1-4pm) or Thursdays.
• Commitment of approximately one hour per week or fortnight.
