Administrative Law Litigation Lawyer

About the role

You will be seconded to Canberra for a three‑month period as part of a specialist litigation and advice services team. The role focuses on providing volume litigation services to public and government clients, handling a range of judicial and merits review matters across the administrative law spectrum.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on administrative law issues to public and government bodies.
• Conduct high‑volume litigation, including merits and judicial review proceedings.
• Represent clients in immigration, child protection and human services matters.
• Perform statutory interpretation and support policy development and implementation.
• Manage access‑to‑information requests and related compliance tasks.

Required profile

• 2–6 years of private‑practice experience in administrative law litigation.
• Demonstrated experience working with public sector clients.
• Ability to handle large‑scale, high‑calibre matters within a national team.
• Strong analytical and written communication skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of administrative law principles and procedures.
• Experience with judicial review and merits review litigation.
• Familiarity with statutory interpretation and policy development.
• Understanding of immigration, child protection and human services law.
