Actuarial Manager

About the role

This permanent, hybrid position is for an experienced Actuarial Manager to lead the Actuarial Modelling and Insights team at QBE in Australia. You will oversee actuarial deliverables across reserving, planning and reporting, ensuring robust governance and delivering insights that shape business performance and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Actuarial Analysts to produce high‑quality outcomes aligned with business objectives.
• Translate strategic priorities into clear, actionable plans and drive team performance.
• Provide actionable actuarial insights that connect reserving results to strategic decision‑making and strengthen the actuarial control cycle.
• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, communicating insights to diverse audiences.
• Ensure robust governance through quality controls and standards across actuarial processes and outputs.
• Lead regulatory and statutory reporting, guaranteeing accuracy, completeness and compliance.
• Drive process simplification, efficiency and continuous improvement across actuarial activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Actuarial Manager in General Insurance, with a focus on reserving.
• Tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Science, Data Science, Business, Actuarial Studies or Computer Science.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative team approach.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams of Actuarial Analysts.
• Track record of communicating technical analysis to stakeholders to support commercial decisions.
