Accounts Payable Officer (Standalone)

About the role

A purpose‑driven organisation focused on affordable housing is looking for an Accounts Payable Officer to join its finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on time while supporting broader finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the end‑to‑end accounts payable function.
• Process supplier invoices and post accurately to the general ledger.
• Prepare month‑end journals, including accruals and pre‑payments.
• Review employee expenses and tenant reimbursements for payment.
• Maintain up‑to‑date supplier records in the accounting system.
• Assist with statutory reporting requirements such as BAS.
• Support finance team audit and reporting activities.
• Provide timely support to internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Contribute to an accounts payable system transformation project, including user acceptance testing.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies and statutory requirements.
• Collaborate across the business to support operational outcomes.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years experience in an Accounts Payable role.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.

Required skills

• Intermediate Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP Business One.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
