Accounts Assistant

About the role

The Accounts Assistant will join the Group Finance Department and support the Financial Manager across four business units. This full‑time position offers a busy, varied workload for someone with solid finance experience, especially in purchase/sales ledgers and bank reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Revenue recognition, including deferred income and accrual calculations
• Intercompany reconciliations and quarterly input to the Group intercompany system (IWS)
• Invoice processing and payment runs
• Statement reconciliations and daily bank reconciliations for multiple entities
• Processing bank payments, fuel cost allocation and recharges
• Consumables reconciliation and cost distribution
• Administration of insurance claims and related queries
• Support during internal and external audits
• Provide cover for the Accounts Payable Clerk and general finance team support

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar finance role
• Strong understanding of purchase and sales ledgers and basic payroll
• Confident communicator able to work with senior management and non‑finance staff
• AAT qualification (desirable but not essential)
• Detail‑focused, customer‑orientated and continuous‑improvement mindset
• Positive, team‑oriented attitude with a flexible, hands‑on approach

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and Lookups

What we offer

• Salary up to £35,000 per year, dependent on experience
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
• Working hours 8:30 am – 5:00 pm with a 1‑hour lunch break
