Accountant

About the role

Eden Academy, a child-safe childcare and kindergarten organisation, is looking for an experienced Accountant to join its Finance team in the support office. The role covers month-end reporting, reconciliations, budget support and other financial tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Month-end processing, including journal entries and supporting workpapers
• Prepare month-end financial reports: Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss and variance analysis
• Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts
• Contribute to the annual budget process
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, payroll tax, WorkCover and superannuation
• Prepare Business Activity Statement submissions
• Childcare funding reconciliation, allocation and annual acquittal or audits
• Weekly childcare discount review and weekly cashflow analytics
• Assist with year-end audit and tax requirements, and with queries raised by accounts payable, receivables or payroll teams
• Participate in setting up new entities within the group and other duties asked by the Financial Controller or Director

Required profile

• Bachelor of Accounting degree
• Minimum 2 years' recent experience as an Accountant or Assistant Accountant
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to the team outcome
• Strong communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, time management and interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Computer literacy, especially MS Office and ERP systems
• Xero or Microsoft Business Central experience desirable
