Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a full-time Accountant to join Cairns Quality Accounting in Cairns. The successful candidate will work across a wide range of accounting functions, supporting both our clients and internal teams while gaining exposure to audit work if desired.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and management reports for diverse clients.
• Complete tax returns, BAS, GST and other compliance filings.
• Support bookkeeping, perform reconciliations and manage month-end close processes.
• Collaborate with clients and colleagues to resolve accounting queries.
• Assist with audit-related tasks when required or when there is interest.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to general accounting activities.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in accounting, business services or audit.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• High attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and professional conduct.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
