Aboriginal Health Worker (Renal Health)

About the role

Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS), the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, is recruiting an Aboriginal Health Worker for a full-time position based in Kununurra. The worker reports to the Clinical Nurse Specialist and manages a client caseload while delivering patient care in line with best-practice guidelines, contributing to the quality of services provided by the Kimberley Renal Service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a client caseload, providing haemodialysis in line with established protocols and policies.
• Administer medications as per certification, ensuring clarity and safety in medication management.
• Encourage and educate clients and families about health practices in a culturally sensitive way.
• Take part in team meetings and quality improvement projects to improve service delivery.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times.

Required profile

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Aboriginal Primary Health Care.
• Certificate IV in Medication or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and manage workload effectively.
• High level of integrity in maintaining confidentiality.
• National police clearance.
• Commitment to Aboriginal health care and cultural safety; all applicants undergo child safety screening.

What we offer

• Base salary of $96,490 per annum, pro rata.
• Accommodation allowance of $13,000 per annum, pro rata.
• Annual airfare allowance of $1,800 per annum, pro rata.
• Opportunity for salary sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum, pro rata.
