Work Health & Safety Consultant – Training Systems Project Lead

About the role

The People and Culture Division at the Australian National University is seeking an experienced Work Health and Safety (WHS) Consultant to lead a six‑month project focused on improving the identification, tracking, monitoring and reporting of WHS training for staff and Higher Degree by Research students.

Key responsibilities

• Review current WHS training practices and map existing processes.
• Engage with stakeholders across schools, colleges and support services to gather requirements.
• Develop and pilot enhancements to training identification, record‑keeping and reporting systems.
• Produce practical guidance and documentation to support compliance with regulatory and industry standards, including AS/NZS ISO 45001.
• Coordinate project delivery, reporting progress to the Manager of Safety and Wellbeing.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in WHS consulting, training systems or safety administration.
• Demonstrated ability to lead short‑term projects and work collaboratively with diverse university stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with a focus on process improvement.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AS/NZS ISO 45001 standards.
• Experience with WHS training compliance and record‑management systems.
