Wellfield Technician

About the role

The Wellfield Technician will join the Technical Services/Seamgas team at Grosvenor Mine, supporting the restart of underground coal production. Reporting to the Seamgas Coordinator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the mine’s gas drainage infrastructure to ensure safe and compliant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, inspect and maintain Seam Gas infrastructure, including SIS, UIS and goaf wells.
• Monitor gas flow rates, pressures and overall system performance.
• Identify, troubleshoot and report equipment faults promptly.
• Perform routine maintenance and keep accurate operational records.
• Collaborate closely with mining operations and contribute to continuous‑improvement projects.
• Apply safety and health principles consistently and take ownership of site safety.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an underground coal mine, preferably in seam gas drainage or gas wellfield operations.
• Current Standard 11 certification preferred.
• Current Coal Board Medical preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety, risk management and environmental compliance.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, operating procedures and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• SAP (experience preferred).
• Interpretation of P&IDs and technical documentation.
• Gas flow monitoring and pressure measurement.
• Operation and maintenance of gas wellfield infrastructure.
• Maintenance of gas drainage systems.
