Waste Truck Driver / Street Cleaner

About the role

A busy Cleansing Team in a local council keeps the city's roads, paths and laneways clean. It is looking for a self-motivated, hard-working person to join the team. The job is temporary, paid $39.13, runs from 4am to 1pm Monday to Friday, starts immediately and is based in the City.

Key responsibilities

• Street cleaning and routine cleaning and litter collection in amenities, footpaths, roads, shopping centres, pits and car parks
• Operating minor plant, including high-pressure hoses and blowers
• Inspecting facilities and reporting maintenance and equipment issues
• Rubbish removal and ad hoc street cleansing such as sweeping and general clean-up

Required profile

• Physically fit and healthy, able to work without supervision
• MR or HR licence (essential)
• White card (essential)
• Steel toe cap boots and a high-visibility shirt or vest (essential)
• COVID-19 double vaccination or a valid medical contraindication certificate before appointment
• Experience in open space teams and in a similar role is an advantage

Required skills

• Driving a compactor (experience essential)
• Operating minor plant such as high-pressure hoses and blowers
