Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant (Psychologist/Rehab Counsellor)

About the role

KINNECT provides tailored workplace rehabilitation services to help people return to life and work. It is seeking an outcome-focused Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant to join its multidisciplinary team on the Gold Coast. The role supports injured workers who cannot return to their pre-injury employer by identifying suitable jobs, building job readiness, engaging with employers and achieving sustainable return-to-work outcomes under the workers compensation scheme. It is not a traditional clinical counselling role.

Key responsibilities

• Provide vocational guidance, job readiness support and practical job-seeking assistance to injured workers
• Research the labour market to find realistic employment options matched to each worker's functional capacity, skills, experience and interests
• Help workers with resumes, cover letters, applications and interview preparation
• Develop individualised return-to-work plans aligned with medical advice and labour market opportunities
• Approach employers directly to find suitable employment, interview and placement opportunities
• Support workers through recruitment and placement to achieve sustainable employment outcomes
• Liaise with insurers, employers and treating health practitioners on return-to-work planning
• Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in line with legislative, insurer and organisational requirements

Required profile

• Psychologists: current AHPRA registration; Rehabilitation Counsellors: eligibility for or current full membership of ASORC
• A genuine passion for helping others; recent graduates are encouraged to apply
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and effective time management and organisation
• Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team
• Current and valid driver's licence
• Bonus: experience in vocational counselling, employment services or return-to-work services
