Virtual Registered Nurse (Triage)

About the role

Amplar Health, part of the Medibank Group, is expanding its Nurse Triage team and offering permanent, fully remote Registered Nurse positions. As a Triage Nurse you assess and triage health concerns by phone, giving evidence-based advice and directing callers to the right care. The role is open to anyone in Australia, including regional and rural areas, and offers part-time (from 0.6 FTE) and full-time hours.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and triage a wide range of health concerns over the phone, identifying risk and determining the next steps in care
• Provide evidence-based health advice and help callers understand their options
• Connect callers with the most appropriate healthcare services when further assessment or treatment is needed

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (Division 1) with at least 3 years of full-time clinical experience in the last 5 years (5,100 hours total)
• Current AHPRA registration with no notations
• Experience in A&E and Triage, Paediatrics, Community Care or Acute Medical/Surgical; aged care experience is not sufficient
• Availability for weekend and night shifts, including a commitment to one Friday shift per fortnight on a two-week roster fixed for the first 6 months
• Private home office with a closable door and a fast, reliable internet connection (NBN fibre or cable, minimum 50 Mbps download / 20 Mbps upload); wireless or mobile connections are not supported

Required skills

• Strong assessment skills and ability to work autonomously
• Comfortable using computers, digital systems and multitasking in a fast-paced environment
• Desirable: experience in virtual communication (video/audio conferencing, chat), call centre or customer service experience, corporate or multidisciplinary team experience

Training starts on the first day, during business hours (AEDT), and commencement is in December or January. Combined hours across all employers must not exceed 40 hours per week.
