Village Cook / Kitchen Hand

About the role

Cobar Shire Council owns and operates the Lilliane Brady Village, a 44-bed residential aged care facility in far western NSW. It is seeking a reliable and compassionate cook/kitchenhand to support all aspects of kitchen operations, including meal preparation, cooking, service and cleaning. The role helps ensure the commercial kitchen meets food safety standards while delivering meals that match individualised dietary needs, and maintains residents' independence, choice, dignity and rights.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present meals and assist with basic food preparation
• Support kitchen operations so that meals are delivered according to individualised dietary needs
• Help maintain food safety standards in the kitchen

Required profile

• Organised, motivated and looking for ways to improve
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles
• Ability to prepare, cook and present meals
• Willingness to work shift work, including weekends and public holidays
• Interpersonal skills to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds

The role is part-time, with a commencing wage of $32.24 per hour, working a minimum of 60 hours per fortnight and up to a maximum of 76 hours per fortnight under the Local Government, Aged, Disability and Home Care (State) Award. Applicants must submit a cover letter, qualifications, working with children's check and current resume; shortlisted candidates undergo a pre-employment medical, national police check and working with children's check.
