Venue Officer

About the role

The Venue Officer provides essential support for high‑quality functions, events and learning activities across Hume City Council venues. This casual position offers flexible hours and a focus on delivering excellent customer service to trainers, presenters, attendees and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and reset rooms according to detailed setup sheets.
• Dismantle rooms and store furniture safely.
• Install, test and maintain AV equipment and computers.
• Assist trainers and presenters with technical and procedural needs, including fire evacuation information.
• Provide front‑line information and support to venue users via face‑to‑face, phone or online channels.
• Cover reception areas during breaks and ensure a welcoming environment.

Required profile

• Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative attitude.
• Knowledge of manual handling and occupational health and safety (OHS) practices.
• Experience in customer service or hospitality is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers.
• Experience operating audio‑visual equipment.
