Ventilation Engineer – Underground Gold Mine (FIFO)

About the role

A leading gold producer is looking for a Ventilation Engineer for its underground mining team at St Ives Gold Mine, on a permanent basis with an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth. You will report to the Mine Ventilation Superintendent and work with a diverse team to optimise ventilation demand and supply so that gold extraction is efficient and business value is maximised.

Key responsibilities

• Drive ventilation planning across long-term, quarterly, weekly and monthly horizons to support production, safety and long-term mine strategy, keeping statutory requirements and records accurate.
• Coordinate and communicate ventilation by defining constraints, issuing instructions and directing mining teams, underground personnel, contractors and graduates.
• Take part in ventilation projects, capital infrastructure planning and monitoring of ventilation system performance to support continuous improvement.
• Keep statutory obligations and record keeping up to date and share them with underground personnel so they can plan ventilation circuits with mine development.
• Carry out the legislated duties of the Ventilation Officer under WA legislation.

Required profile

• Recognised tertiary degree in a Bachelor of Engineering, or full qualifications to be appointed under Schedule 26 of the Work Health and Safety regulations 2022.
• Manual driver's licence.
• All required WHS risk management units completed, plus the required legislation examination.
• Experience in underground mining and ventilation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Mining software such as Deswik CAD; experience with Ventsim Design is highly regarded.
