VCE English Teacher – Full‑time

About the role

St Catherine’s School, an independent girls’ school in Toorak, is seeking an enthusiastic VCE English Teacher to join its senior faculty from the start of the 2027 academic year. The role is full‑time and reports to the Head of English, delivering engaging, inquiry‑based lessons that develop critical thinking, creativity and a love of literature.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver VCE English curriculum across Years 11‑12, aligning with the Australian Curriculum.
• Design analytical and inquiry‑driven lessons that foster critical thinking and appreciation of literature.
• Assess student work, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate records.
• Contribute to the school’s “Culture of Thinking” initiatives and collaborative professional learning teams.
• Utilise ICT tools to enrich learning experiences and support student engagement.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
• Proven experience teaching English from Years 7‑12, with specific VCE experience.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Curriculum requirements for English.
• Commitment to contemporary pedagogy and the school’s teaching for thinking culture.
• Effective classroom management and a collaborative mindset.
