Urology Staff Specialist / Senior Staff Specialist

About the role

Mackay Hospital and Health Service, part of Queensland Health, is recruiting a Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist in Urology within its General Surgery Department. The department includes four General Surgery teams, one Urology team and one ENT team, and provides outreach General Surgery services to Proserpine and Sarina Hospitals. The role is based in the Mackay region of tropical north Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical services for the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.
• Educate medical staff and students, allied health professionals, nursing staff and interested community groups.
• Take an active part in patient safety, audit, research and service planning activities.
• Deliver a medical service in line with the standards of the specialty and the ethics of the profession.
• Perform after-hours and weekend clinical duties as rostered, and give clinical assistance in emergencies as directed.
• Supervise trainees and other staff as appropriate.
• Carry out administrative duties relating to the functioning of the department and the hospital.
• Take part in continuing medical education and in programmes that safeguard personal and colleagues' well-being.
• Meet the Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) vaccination requirement for the role.
