Truck Driver

About the role

Dickies Tree Service, a second-generation family-owned tree care business based in Malaga, Western Australia, is looking for a full-time Truck Driver. The role involves driving trucks to move equipment, machinery, tools, wood chips, branches, logs and other materials to and from worksites across the Perth metropolitan area.

Key responsibilities

• Drive trucks to transport equipment, machinery, tools, wood chips, branches, logs and other materials to and from worksites.
• Plan delivery routes according to road conditions, traffic, vehicle restrictions and delivery schedules.
• Inspect trucks before starting, checking tyres, brakes, lights and fluid levels, and report defects, mechanical issues, damage, delays and incidents to the supervisor.
• Load, secure and unload cargo in line with load restraint requirements and workplace safety procedures; operate or assist with truck-mounted equipment and tipping mechanisms.
• Collect and transport green waste, branches, logs and wood chips to disposal, recycling or processing facilities.
• Coordinate with arborists, ground crew and supervisors for the safe movement of materials between sites.
• Complete delivery records, vehicle logs and run sheets, and carry out basic vehicle cleaning and maintenance.
• Comply with road transport legislation, fatigue management, load restraint standards and workplace health and safety procedures, and help with general ground duties at worksites.

Required profile

• Experience driving trucks, preferably in transport, construction, landscaping, arboriculture or a related industry.
• Current HR or HC heavy vehicle licence (or equivalent).
• Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks, and to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of road safety, vehicle operation, load restraint and safe loading and unloading.
• Ability to inspect vehicles and identify basic mechanical issues.
• Good time management, communication and teamwork skills.
