Transport Officer – Deceased Persons

About the role
St John Ambulance Victoria is seeking dedicated Transport Officers to provide respectful transport services for deceased persons across the Melbourne metropolitan area and regional Victoria. The role supports the partnership with the Coroners Court Victoria and involves both collection and repatriation duties.
Key responsibilities
- Collect deceased persons from places of death, either with a crew member or independently for repatriations.
- Operate on a rotating roster of 8‑10 hour shifts, responding to both scheduled and emergency collections.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with families and other stakeholders.
- Follow occupational health and safety (OHS) and manual handling procedures at all times.
Required profile
- High level of resilience and ability to manage complex, sensitive situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non‑verbal.
- Demonstrated experience working with deceased persons and related stakeholders is highly regarded.
- Full driver’s licence with a safe driving record.
