Trainee Laboratory/Preparation Assistant – Fuels Traineeship 2027

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking motivated people to join its Fuels Traineeship Program, starting in January 2027. This two-year development program gives practical, hands-on experience in laboratory and sample preparation operations while completing nationally recognised training and industry qualifications. It suits school leavers, career changers, parents returning to work, veterans and others looking to start a long-term career.

Program structure

• Year 1: training in laboratory operations, introduction to sampling, preparation and testing techniques, structured on-the-job learning, ongoing coaching and mentorship, and completion of recognised industry qualifications.
• Year 2: exposure to sample preparation operations, rotation across laboratory, preparation and reporting functions, increased responsibility and skill development, plus career planning and development support.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and a sound knowledge of English.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts.
• Current driver's licence (or ability to obtain one).

Desirable: interest in science, laboratory work or the resources industry; previous experience in laboratory, sampling or operational environments; Certificate II or higher in a science-related discipline.
