Technical Officer Materials Trainee

About the role

Main Roads Western Australia is recruiting a Technical Officer Materials Trainee in Derby. This traineeship lets you earn a salary while learning, with hands-on experience studying towards a nationally recognised qualification. You will work alongside experienced professionals and learn how materials used to build and maintain WA's roads and bridges are tested.

Key responsibilities

• Learn how to test and assess materials used in road and bridge construction
• Assist with laboratory and field investigations
• Operate specialised testing equipment and technology
• Work with experienced technical professionals on real projects
• Develop practical problem-solving, mathematical and analytical skills

Required profile

• No previous experience required; training, support and guidance are provided
• Basic understanding of and interest in maths and physics
• Good communication and sound problem-solving skills
• Team player willing to take on new challenges and contribute to the local community
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency
• Evidence of completion of Year 10 or equivalent
