Technical Director – Project & Study Management

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Technical Director to lead project and study delivery for major resource sector initiatives in Perth. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, translate client goals into actionable plans, and ensure high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large‑scale resource projects and studies from opportunity definition through delivery.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, risk and quality to meet client and project requirements.
• Translate client objectives into clear execution plans, governance structures and accountable workstreams.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and resources to produce integrated, high‑quality study outcomes.
• Build trusted client relationships, identify new opportunities and support winning proposal development.
• Prepare and review study reports and presentations, including financial evaluations, risks and opportunities.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing team, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
• Contribute to Service Group business planning and growth activities.
• Represent Aurecon throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring client satisfaction.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification, preferably mechanical engineering.
• Extensive project and study management experience in the resources sector, ideally with iron‑ore projects.
• Demonstrated opportunity management and strong commercial awareness in a consulting environment.
• Experience working with tier‑one resources clients is highly regarded.
• Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to work effectively in lean, technically focused teams.
• Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder‑management skills focused on practical outcomes.
