Team Manager Creative Communities

About the role

Townsville City Council is seeking a senior leader to head its Creative Communities portfolio, which includes galleries, performing arts, events, and venue management. Reporting to the General Manager Community & Lifestyle, you will drive transformation, strategy, and service delivery across a high‑profile cultural portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the modernisation of arts and culture services, ensuring they meet contemporary local‑government standards.
• Develop and embed the Council’s Arts and Culture Strategy into operational planning and decision‑making.
• Oversee organisational change, strengthening governance, systems and team capability.
• Manage budgets, financial performance and commercial arrangements for galleries, venues and events.
• Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver strong community outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in complex service environments, preferably within arts, culture or community sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to lead organisational improvement, change management and governance.
• Strong collaborative and influencing skills with a track record of stakeholder engagement.
• Sound financial and commercial acumen, with a commitment to safety, compliance and accountability.
• Passion for delivering sustainable, community‑focused services that enhance city livability.
