About the role
The Teacher Flying Squad supports regional and remote schools in Western Australia by filling short‑term vacancies during the 2026 school year. Positions are open to current Department of Education staff who are qualified to teach early childhood, primary or secondary subjects.
Key responsibilities
- Travel to designated regional or remote schools on short notice.
- Deliver curriculum across early childhood, primary and secondary subjects such as mathematics, science, English, humanities and technologies.
- Manage classroom environments and maintain student engagement during assignments lasting 5‑10 weeks.
- Provide continuity of learning while the school conducts further recruitment efforts.
Required profile
- Current employee of the Department of Education WA.
- Qualified teacher in early childhood, primary or secondary education.
- Enthusiastic, resilient, flexible and able to adapt quickly to new settings.
- Willingness to work outside of your primary qualification for short periods if required.
