Teacher - English (Years 7-10)

About the role

Belmont City College, a Department of Education school in the City of Belmont, is recruiting a permanent full-time English teacher starting Term 1, 2027. The position is advertised as part of a recruitment pilot that simplifies the application process: candidates must use the attached CV template only, with two short written responses to AITSL domains.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and relevant English learning programs for Years 7-10, ideally drawing on knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and WACE English courses.
• Create meaningful learning experiences that respond to a range of abilities, backgrounds and learning needs.
• Use effective modern classroom practices, assessment and reporting methods, and reflect on teaching practice.
• Build positive relationships with students and encourage their confidence, engagement and progress.
• Contribute to the English Learning Area and wider school community through collaboration.

Required profile

• An eligible teacher qualification and registration.
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid visa with work rights for the term of appointment.
• Eligible to apply for a WA Working with Children Check and to consent to a criminal history check.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of the Years 7-10 Western Australian Curriculum and WACE English courses.
• Experience developing and delivering learning programs, and using modern classroom practices, assessment and reporting.
• Student-focused approach and reflective, collaborative teaching style.
