Tax Manager – Group Tax Function

About the role

Pacific Energy is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to own the Group tax function. Reporting to the General Manager – Financial Controller, you will ensure compliance, provide technical tax advice, and support strategic initiatives across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and prepare the Group’s tax compliance activities, including income tax, GST, FBT, BAS and IAS obligations.
• Provide technical taxation advice to the finance team and business stakeholders, preparing and managing tax positions and documentation.
• Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on the business.
• Manage R&D tax incentive claims and identify further value‑creation opportunities.
• Support acquisitions, capital raises and commercial initiatives through tax due‑diligence.
• Maintain and improve the Group’s tax governance framework and fixed‑asset registers.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and regulatory authorities.
• Assist commercial projects, grant applications and broader finance initiatives.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent).
• 5+ years’ experience in taxation within industry or professional services.
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability.
• Excellent documentation, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
• Strong stakeholder‑management skills across all business levels.
