Tailings Engineer - Ernest Henry Operations

About the role

Evolution Mining is recruiting a Tailings Engineer for its Ernest Henry Operations in Queensland. Working within the Tailings Management team, you will safeguard and shape one of the mine's most critical assets by combining operational oversight, engineering design, project delivery and contractor management. The role covers the full lifecycle of tailings management, from monitoring dam performance and reviewing designs to leading construction activities, civil projects and future TSF raises. Work is based in Cloncurry, with residential or FIFO from Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns on an 8/6 roster.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and assess TSF performance through inspections, instrumentation monitoring and surveillance programs
• Analyse geotechnical, stability and water management data to identify risks and optimise performance
• Review engineering designs, construction methodologies and quality assurance activities for TSF upgrades and raises
• Coordinate contractors, consultants and site stakeholders to deliver projects safely
• Lead the planning and delivery of civil infrastructure such as roads, drainage, dams, buttresses and site facilities
• Ensure compliance with Queensland legislation, company standards and ANCOLD guidelines

Required profile

• Engineer who balances technical problem solving with practical project delivery and wants more than a desk-based role
• Ideally a degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Mining Engineering
• Experience in tailings management, water management, geotechnical engineering or civil infrastructure projects
• Exposure to TSF operations, construction, surveillance or dam safety management
• Strong project delivery and contractor management experience
• Ability to interpret monitoring data and prepare technical reports for operational, technical and leadership stakeholders
