Systems Specialist Software/Standards/Maintenance (AFHQ)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Systems Specialist for the Defence project AIR 6002, which delivers a Future Lead-In Fighter System (FLIFS) including aircraft, simulators, facilities, ground support equipment, training material and contracted services. The role works under limited supervision of the VCDF Task Lead, as specification developer for all AIR 6002 software aspects, and also researches the standards relevant to project elements other than facilities and generates Function and Performance Specifications (FPS) for maintenance of those elements. It sits within the Air Warfare System Project Office (AWSPO) in conjunction with Air Force Headquarters (AFHQ). The position is based onsite, preferably at RAAF Base Williamtown, with Canberra (Russell Offices) possible on a case-by-case basis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high-quality, traceable software FPS and artefacts for the FLIFS aircraft platform, simulators, training solutions, maintenance and operational interfaces with contracted services and live, virtual and constructive (LVC) training systems
• Develop high-quality, traceable maintenance FPS and artefacts for the same areas
• Complete FPS for software, standards and maintenance elements of aircraft platform, simulators, training solutions and LVC training systems
• Draft ASDEFCON Data Item Descriptions (DID)
• Populate systems engineering databases
• Evaluate and report on tenders and conduct vendor requirements reviews
• Represent VCDF at forums with operators and delivery agents, and collaborate to manage capability risks and resolve complex issues
• Present verbal and written reports to committees and boards, applying strategic guidance to deliver FLIFS

Required profile

• Active NV1 security clearance (essential)
• Graduate with an appropriate degree (important)
• Experience in Capability Development, Defence Acquisition and aircraft acquisition (important)
• Ability to travel (desirable); onsite work with preferred location at RAAF Base Williamtown
