Systems Engineer / Specialist Technician – Technical Support to Schools

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and delivering professional development in a technology‑driven learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and server environments.
• Provide ICT support services in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT experience, preferably within TSSP, the education sector, or corporate IT support.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR, or permanent visa), a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

Required skills

• Hyper‑V virtualization administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking – Cisco and HP switching.
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, access points).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD device planning, deployment and management.
• Technical documentation.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 (pro‑rated) AUD per year, with top rates based based on skills and experience.
