Systems Engineer / Specialist Technician – Technical Support to Schools

About the role

Bytewize is seeking experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and delivering professional development in a technology‑driven learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks, server environments and cloud services.
• Provide ICT support in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT experience, preferably within the TSSP, education sector, or equivalent corporate IT support.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, escalation, and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia, a current driver’s licence, and willingness to undergo police and background checks.

Required skills

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking (Cisco & HP switching).
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops/notebooks and 1:1/BYOD device planning.
• Technical documentation.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 (pro‑rata) AUD per year, top rates based on skills.
