Systems Engineer

About the role

KBR is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join the Integrated Air and Space Program Office (IASPO) in Canberra, supporting the delivery and sustainment of complex Defence capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver systems engineering activities across the capability lifecycle, supporting development, integration and sustainment of Defence capabilities.
• Provide technical advice, conduct hazard analyses, and ensure compliance with Defence engineering and regulatory requirements.
• Review technical documentation, engineering designs and contractor deliverables, offering recommendations to improve quality and capability outcomes.
• Support engineering assurance activities by verifying that delivered systems meet technical, operational and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with Defence stakeholders, industry partners and multidisciplinary teams to achieve project success.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a knowledge‑sharing culture.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering recognised in Australia.
• Experience applying systems engineering processes to complex Defence or aerospace programs.
• Knowledge of systems safety, hazard analysis and engineering assurance practices.
• Strong understanding of engineering governance, regulatory compliance and risk management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance and Australian citizenship.
