Systems Administrator

About the role

The Systems Administrator will manage and continuously improve State Library Victoria's core technology infrastructure, covering servers, cloud services, storage, identity, and end‑user computing environments. The role is part of a cross‑functional engineering team focused on modernising and securing the library's platforms while supporting a digital‑first strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, secure, and maintain Windows and Linux server platforms, both on‑premises and cloud‑based.
• Monitor system health, performance, capacity and availability using enterprise tools such as Zabbix.
• Provide Tier 2/3 support and respond to major incidents to ensure high operational availability.
• Manage virtualization clusters (VMware, Hyper‑V) and storage solutions (SAN, NAS).
• Perform system backup, recovery and security hardening activities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and deploy infrastructure upgrades.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in ICT, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in enterprise infrastructure operations and service management.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience analysing issues, diagnosing root causes and implementing corrective actions.
