Systems Administrator (12-month Fixed-Term)

About the role

Emesent is seeking a mid‑level to senior Systems Administrator on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will support a fast‑growing, globally distributed deep‑tech company that builds robotics and embedded‑system solutions, bridging corporate ICT infrastructure with a highly technical engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support within a lean ICT team and manage ServiceDesk queues.
• Administer Microsoft 365/Office 365 services including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint and Intune.
• Provision and manage endpoints for Windows, macOS and Linux users worldwide.
• Maintain Active Directory, Azure AD, SSO and overall identity & access management.
• Support Ansible‑based configuration management and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
• Administer and monitor cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure) – compute, storage and networking.
• Assist engineering teams with CI/CD pipelines using Atlassian Bitbucket and Jira.
• Manage server and service backups, endpoint security, patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Implement data security controls for sensitive geospatial and LiDAR assets.
• Maintain BCP/DR frameworks, VPN infrastructure and network configuration for Brisbane HQ and remote sites.
• Oversee HubSpot, software licensing, procurement and vendor relationships.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 help‑desk support for a technically sophisticated user base.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years in a Systems Administrator or ICT Operations role, preferably in a tech scale‑up or engineering‑led environment.
• Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Azure AD and modern endpoint management (Intune/MDM).
• Proficiency in Linux administration and scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
• Hands‑on experience with Ansible or similar configuration‑management tools.
• Solid networking fundamentals – DNS, DHCP, VPN and firewalls.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and basic DevOps tooling.
