System Engineer

About the role

Business Review Group is seeking experienced Systems Engineers to lead design, integration, test and evaluation activities for Defence capability systems within a CASG integrated workforce. You will operate under broad direction, exercising technical authority and professional judgement to influence engineering outcomes and ensure compliance with Defence governance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate systems engineering activities across assigned systems, focusing on safety, fitness for service and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and trace requirements and specifications to system‑level capability needs and operational use cases.
• Provide governance and oversight of support contractor engineering work, ensuring quality, compliance and consistency of artefacts.
• Develop, review and endorse complex engineering documentation, including system specifications, design packages, engineering management plans and risk registers.
• Assist in Configuration Control Boards, Engineering Review Boards and System Safety Working Groups.
• Evaluate contractor deliverables against approved requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
• Identify, assess and manage engineering risks, supporting risk acceptance and corrective actions.
• Support system security, quality management, technical risk management and system safety activities, including whole‑of‑system certification.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer in Defence acquisition and sustainment.
• Strong ability to consult with contracted service providers and engage key Defence stakeholders.
• Demonstrated technical authority with the capacity to influence outcomes and manage risk.
• Experience preparing and presenting engineering artefacts to review boards and certification bodies.
