System Administrator – Part-time/Contract (Melbourne)

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time System Administrator to join our team in the Greater Melbourne Area. The role is initially contract‑based with the potential to become full‑time, and involves maintaining and supporting our core IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Windows and Linux servers, workstations and virtual environments (VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Monitor system performance, apply patches, updates and ensure high availability of services.
• Provide first‑line technical support, diagnose hardware, software and network issues, and escalate complex problems.
• Perform network administration tasks including configuration of switches, routers and firewalls.
• Execute backup and recovery procedures and manage user accounts and permissions.
• Document configurations, procedures and contribute to continuous‑improvement and security initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong background in system administration and IT infrastructure.
• Proven troubleshooting and technical support abilities.
• Experience in network administration and basic network monitoring.
• Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle for travel (travel expenses reimbursed).
