Swimming Instructor - Multicultural Programs

About the role

Royal Life Saving WA is seeking Swimming Instructors to deliver high-quality swimming and water safety lessons for its ongoing multicultural programs in the Perth metro area and surrounding regions. The program supports participants from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds by offering a safe, inclusive and empowering environment to learn essential aquatic skills. Instructors should be respectful, culturally aware and confident teaching adults with varying levels of swimming experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, structured swimming and water safety lessons tailored to adult learners, especially beginners.
• Create a culturally safe, supportive and encouraging learning environment for participants.
• Model and promote safe aquatic practices in all aspects of teaching.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with participants from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Assess participant progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.
• Collaborate with the program supervisor and the Access & Equity team where needed.

Required profile

• Current RLSSWA or AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification (or equivalent).
• Current Working With Children Check.
• Current CPR qualification.
• Strong communication skills, patience and a supportive teaching style.
• Desirable: experience teaching children, cultural awareness or prior work with CALD communities, and ability to work independently while maintaining program standards.
