Structural Engineer – Mining Asset Inspection (Singleton)

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join its Singleton team. You will be responsible for inspecting, assessing, and managing the integrity of structural mining assets across active and legacy sites, ensuring safety, compliance, and long‑term performance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct routine and ad‑hoc inspections of mining‑related structural assets such as conveyors, crushers, screens, tanks, and steel/concrete infrastructure.
• Assess condition of steel, reinforced concrete, and composite structures, identifying defects like corrosion, fatigue, cracking, deformation, and foundation issues.
• Assign condition ratings and risk levels in line with asset integrity frameworks.
• Perform engineering assessments according to Australian Standards (e.g., AS 4100, AS 3600, AS 2159).
• Prepare clear inspection reports with photographic evidence and provide repair, strengthening, or replacement recommendations.
• Support life‑extension strategies for ageing mining infrastructure and ensure compliance with statutory requirements, site standards, and design codes.
• Maintain accurate inspection and asset records, develop inspection scopes, frequencies, and methodologies.
• Collaborate with site engineers, maintenance teams, operations personnel, external contractors, designers, and certification bodies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in structural inspection and assessment, preferably within mining or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete structures.
• Sound understanding of relevant Australian Standards.
