About the role
The Strategic Media Coordinator will strengthen and amplify the Western Bulldogs and its Community Foundation’s public profile by shaping, producing and placing stories that demonstrate impact and engagement. The role centres participant voice, ensures culturally safe storytelling and aligns media opportunities with strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, develop and share compelling stories showcasing program impact, participant outcomes and partner contributions.
- Manage media enquiries, coordinate spokesperson opportunities and provide media support, briefings and interview preparation.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and stakeholders to increase awareness and advocacy.
- Create engaging content for releases, website, social media, speeches, award submissions and event communications.
- Manage social media channels, website content and editorial calendar, ensuring brand‑aligned communications.
- Coordinate media and content opportunities across programs, events, fundraising initiatives and partnership campaigns.
- Monitor media coverage, analyse performance and provide insights to strengthen brand reputation.
Required profile
- Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, public relations, media or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in media relations, journalism, strategic communications or public relations.
- Excellent news judgement, writing, editing and interviewing skills.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with journalists, partners and stakeholders.
- Strong organisation, project coordination and attention to detail.
Required skills
- News judgement, writing and editing across media releases, pitches and briefing materials.
- Content development best practices and basic production skills for social‑first output.
- Understanding of inclusive, trauma‑aware, culturally safe and consent‑based storytelling.
