Steward – Hotel Kitchen Support

About the role

The Steward provides essential back‑of‑house support in a busy hotel kitchen, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment while delivering an excellent guest experience. This full‑time, onsite role involves operating pot‑washing equipment and performing a range of cleaning tasks in accordance with health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate pot‑washing machinery and maintain a hygienic working environment.
• Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, washing up, and emptying rubbish bins.
• Keep all kitchen and back‑of‑house areas clean according to the established cleaning schedule.
• Ensure correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is used and safety guidelines are followed.
• Observe health, hygiene and safety regulations when handling hazardous substances.
• Report any maintenance or hazard issues to the supervisor on duty.
• Carry out any other reasonable tasks assigned by hotel management.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and good communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
• Previous kitchen porter or similar experience is advantageous.

Required skills

• Operation of pot‑washing machinery.
• Knowledge of hygiene regulations and cleaning schedules.
