State Programs Officer - School Sport Victoria State Championships

About the role

The State Programs Officer reports to the Interschool Sport Manager and plans, budgets and manages the delivery of the School Sport Victoria State Championships program. State Championships are part of the School Sport Victoria interschool sport program, offering a pathway from local competitions through to State Championships across 29 sports for government and non-government primary and secondary schools across Victoria. The role works alongside another role to deliver the program.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee program planning and budget management of State Championship competitions and events
• Adhere to competition rules to support participation by schools and students
• Respond to queries from schools and School Sport Victoria Coordinators, and coordinate responses to enquiries, appeals and complaints
• Manage procurement and workforce coordination for events, such as venues, officials and first aid
• Implement initiatives such as the Child Safe Officer and Positive Behaviour Rules
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including schools and state sporting organisations, to deliver all requirements for competitions and events
• Coordinate facility bookings, event scheduling, communications and financial management

Required profile

• A customer service focus, including responding to complaints and identifying continuous improvement
• Demonstrated experience in program planning and budget management alongside delivery of sporting events
• Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including state sporting organisations
• Desirable: Bachelor degree in Education, Sports Management/Administration or related; previous experience in sports administration or school sport
