Staff Specialist / Senior Staff Specialist - Urologist

About the role

The Department of Surgery at Mackay Base Hospital is seeking a Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist - Urologist to join its Urology team. The position is permanent and full-time or part-time (40-80 hours per fortnight) in the Mackay region of Queensland. The General Surgery Department includes four General Surgery teams, one Urology team and one ENT team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patients with a medical service in line with the standards of the specialty and the ethics of the profession.
• Perform after-hours and weekend clinical duties as rostered.
• Provide clinical assistance in emergencies as directed.
• Supervise trainees and other staff as appropriate.
• Carry out administrative duties relating to the department and hospital.
• Take part in continuing medical education under the College's Maintenance of Professional Standards Program.
• Take part in programs that safeguard personal well-being and that of colleagues, trainees and related professionals.
• Contribute to patient safety, audit, research and service planning, and educate medical staff, students, allied health, community groups and nursing staff.
