Staff Specialist in General Paediatrics

About the role

Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital, the largest healthcare facility in NSW outside the Sydney-Wollongong-Newcastle metropolis, is recruiting a Staff Specialist in General Paediatrics. Its Paediatric and Adolescent Inpatient Unit serves children in the New England, North West and Upper Hunter areas and is the major referral centre for the northern sector of HNELHD, with 18 beds and over 2,600 admissions per year. The unit also runs a Level 3 Neonatal Service and a Special Care Nursery, so candidates with combined general paediatrics and neonatal skills or interest are strongly encouraged to apply.

Required profile

• A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (General Paediatrics), or equivalent overseas-trained specialist pathways.
• Recent and comprehensive experience in General Paediatrics.
• Ability to mentor and support trainees and other staff in developing their knowledge.
• Oral and written communication skills with patients, students, colleagues and the public.
• Collaborative, interdisciplinary approach and networking across stakeholder groups.
• Leadership and management experience, flexibility in a changing health system, and involvement in safety and quality improvement.
• Commitment to professional development, peer review and clinical governance, and advocacy for improved health.
