Staff Specialist - General Medicine (Geriatric Medicine)

About the role

The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is recruiting a Staff Specialist in General Medicine (Geriatric Medicine) for the Blue Mountains area, up to 0.4 FTE, based primarily at Blue Mountains Hospital in the Department of General Medicine. The role involves expert medical assessment and management of patients, mainly through outpatient clinics and inpatient consultation, with possible on-call coverage. Key responsibilities

• Provide expert medical assessment and management of patients in the General Medicine Department
• Run outpatient clinics and provide inpatient consult services
• Provide on-call coverage when requested to support the department
• Support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the department
• Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to quality assurance activities in geriatric medicine

Required profile

• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or an appropriate work visa
• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent specialist recognition, plus evidence of continuing medical education and audit practice
• Working with Children Check (WWCC) and required occupational vaccinations before starting
• Sound clinical knowledge in geriatric medicine, including relevant qualifications or post-Fellowship experience
