Staff Specialist - Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

About the role

Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) Mental Health Services is seeking a Staff Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The role provides high-quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and takes part in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Mental Health Service and Hospital as required. It is open to permanent full-time and part-time positions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical assessment, management and treatment of outpatients and inpatients at the Rivendell Unit and associated community-based teams within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
• Ensure a high standard of professional performance and encourage an academic environment supporting education, research and professional development.
• Uphold child protection as a core responsibility: comply with child protection policies and procedures and the NSW Health Code of Conduct, document identified issues, escalate them and ensure action is taken.

Required profile

• Current registered medical practitioner, registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.
• Completion of the Certificate in Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP) or equivalent under the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award; applicants expected to receive their Fellowship within six months may also be considered.
