Staff Platform Engineer (AWS)

About the role

You will lead the architecture, infrastructure and automation of the BB Companion platform, enabling AI‑enabled capabilities for business customers in the CommBank app. As the technical lead you will guide cross‑squad integration, improve developer experience and embed security, privacy and responsible AI controls.

Key responsibilities

• Own BB Companion platform architecture, infrastructure and automation across squads.
• Lead technical direction, design reviews and integration across product, data and AI capabilities.
• Enable secure AWS delivery through CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes and EKS.
• Improve reliability, observability and resilience via SLOs, capacity planning and incident remediation.
• Enhance developer experience with self‑service golden paths and measurable platform adoption.
• Embed security, privacy, data‑governance, responsible AI and agent safety controls.
• Mentor engineers and drive platform capability growth across squads.

Required profile

• Staff‑level leadership across architecture, platform strategy and complex trade‑offs.
• Strong AWS platform engineering experience (Kubernetes/EKS, containers, networking, scalability, resilience, security, cost).
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code, scripting, CI/CD, GitOps and DevSecOps.
• Proven system design skills for APIs, integrations, automation, observability and reliable operations.
• Experience embedding security, privacy, risk controls and vulnerability remediation.
• Clear communication and stakeholder alignment across product, engineering, data, AI and risk teams.
