Staff Engineer – Computer Vision (C++)

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the development of real‑time computer vision capabilities for its autonomous systems. You will design, implement and integrate high‑performance C++ vision pipelines that operate reliably on edge compute platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop custom computer‑vision algorithms from scratch, focusing on real‑time performance and reliability.
• Build and maintain geometry‑based perception pipelines, including camera modelling, calibration, multi‑view reconstruction and sensor alignment.
• Collaborate with AI, robotics and optical engineers to integrate vision solutions into autonomous aircraft.
• Optimize code for edge deployment, ensuring low latency and efficient resource usage.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Vision, Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• Deep proficiency in C++ with experience in high‑performance, real‑time software development.
• Proven ability to translate research concepts into deployable software and own projects from ambiguous requirements to delivery.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, performance optimisation and version control.
