Staff Engineer – Agent Hub
Culture Amp · Melbourne
Job description
About the role
Culture Amp is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the creation of its internal Agent Hub, a greenfield platform for designing, shipping, and governing autonomous agents across the business. This role will define architecture, engineering patterns, and operational guardrails to make agentic systems secure, observable, and production‑ready.
Key responsibilities
- Set technical direction for foundational capabilities such as agent execution, orchestration, identity, context, evaluation, and visibility.
- Design, build, and operate autonomous agents, workflows, and integrations for internal use cases, choosing between deterministic automation, single agents, or multi‑agent systems.
- Develop reusable MCP servers and tool patterns with clear schemas, credential brokering, identity‑aware access, per‑call authorisation, and auditable interactions.
- Shape the knowledge and context layer using document retrieval, vector search, knowledge graphs, registries, and semantic models.
- Establish engineering practices for secure deployment, testing, observability, cost awareness, reliability, and safe human escalation.
Required profile
- Strong backend engineering experience, preferably with TypeScript and/or Python, building production APIs and services.
- Hands‑on experience delivering cloud‑native solutions on AWS, with deep understanding of security, identity, permissions, and reliability.
- Practical experience with AI agents, Claude or similar tools, and orchestration of single‑agent, multi‑agent, workflow, and human‑in‑the‑loop systems.
- Ability to take ambiguous problems from discovery to shipped, governed solutions and influence stakeholders through delivery.
Required skills
- TypeScript
- Python
- AWS cloud services
- AI agent platforms (e.g., Claude)
- MCP integration patterns
- Vector search and knowledge‑graph technologies
What we offer
- Competitive pay and equity through an Employee Share Option Program.

- MacBook and home‑office budget, medical insurance (US/UK), parental leave, and social impact days.
