Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer for School IT Support

About the role

Bytewize is seeking experienced IT professionals to provide specialist technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role requires at least five years of senior‑level experience in education‑sector ICT or comparable corporate environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer school networks, server environments and cloud services.
• Deliver ICT support in large, technology‑driven learning settings.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and provide professional development for staff.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, escalation and systematic troubleshooting skills.
• Punctual, reliable, well‑organised with excellent communication abilities.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa), a current driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

Required skills

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Cloud service administration (Google Workspace & Microsoft 365).
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking (Cisco & HP switching).
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops and notebooks.
• 1:1 and BYOD device planning, deployment and management.
• Technical documentation.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 (pro‑rata) with top rates based on skills and experience.
