Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer for School ICT Support

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to deliver technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). You will manage and maintain ICT infrastructure, support staff and students, and help create a reliable learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and server environments.
• Provide ICT support in large, technology‑driven learning settings.
• Collaborate with school leadership and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT experience (TSSP, education sector, or corporate support).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, punctuality, reliability and organisational skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa), a current driver’s licence and willingness to undergo police and background checks.

• Hyper‑V virtualization administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking – Cisco and HP switching.
• Cisco wireless controllers and access points.
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD device planning.
• Technical documentation.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 (pro‑rata) AUD per year, top rates based on skills.
